The pearl of our country. From the neighborhood of the Abbey there is a magnificent panorama of Lake Balaton, Balatonfüred. The good news for sporty tourists is, that Tihany is easily accessible by bike, and you can even take a round trip around the peninsula.
The unique natural formation is actually made up of needle-like stone columns on the wall of a mine next to a volcanic cone. It is worth taking a long look at the surrounding landscape, the panorama is breathtaking.
Near of Tapolca it is worth making a tour towards Szent-György Hegy. In addition to the famous basalt organ made of stone columns, there is a 4-kilometer educational trail, through which we can get acquainted with the earth's history and special fauna.
The cave system of Tapolca was discovered more than 100 years ago during excavation. The passages were formed by hot water and there are also "rooms" in the dry branch of the cave. A pleasant temperature of around 20 °C awaits guests for an underground cruise all year round.
The medieval castle of Szigliget and its Esterházy Castle, a writers' paradise where Ady once wrote his lines on paper, are at least as popular for tourists. Its wonderful arboretum should not be missed by any nature lover!
About 210 kilometers and plenty of experiences await those who embark on a great adventure. All this in up to 3-4 days, which means 53-70 km per day, with an average of 18 km, means 3 to 4 hours actually spent in the saddle.
FOLLY BOTANIC GARDEN
In the garden known for its special pines, in addition to disseminating knowledge, entertainment and gastronomy also play an important role. With a wonderful panorama of Lake Balaton, beautiful plant rarities in all seasons, excellent locally made wines from Badacsony, delicious food, a richly equipped, special playground, a trip to Lake Balaton is a must-see for all ages.
Kinizsi Castle from the 15th century was expanded in the Gothic style. Today, the castle is the venue for renaissance games and celebrations. The 29-meter-high residential tower or old tower, which still functions as a museum today.
HELIKON CASTLE MUSEUM
The castle, which has been continuously expanding since the middle of the 18th century, was owned by the Festetics family for 200 years. The park is a nature reserve. Offers also exhibitions in the castle building and park.
